The Joint Commission’s newly updated Imaging Accreditation Standards have significantly changed the minimum standards for hospitals with regard to imaging practice. These new standards were developed to improve the safety and operations of radiology departments and to bring best practices that were first introduced in California to the rest of the nation. As the majority of our practice is in California, we’ve had experience with these new standards for years and have developed systems to ensure compliance. These new standards include:
- Annual physics testing for CT, MRI, Nuclear Medicine, and PET systems
- Physicist qualifications that All Therapy Physics staff exceed
- Patient and Staff Radiation Exposure monitoring
- MRI Safety Policies and Training
- Dose Optimization and Tracking
We understand that Joint Commission inspections are important, not just to radiology, but to the hospital as a whole. By choosing Therapy Physics, you are ensuring that your department will meet and exceed the imaging accreditation standards by the Joint Commission.
